The Lockdown Boredom can be annoying in these pandemic times. However, a lockdown is the need of the hour and there isn’t much we can do but stay indoors and try to fight the urge to step out, however tempting it may be. So instead, you might want to utilize this period to explore your limits. There are several creative things that you can do to pass your time- try giving these a shot!
- Find a Hobby- The lockdown could provide you with the excellent time to explore your hobbies and showcase your talents. If you think that you do not have a hobby, now you have an ample amount of time to find some indoor activity that you might discover that you like.
- Pick up a board game- Of course, Gully Cricket and Football is off limits for now and all that you are left to do is find some entertainment at home. Of course there’s the good ol’ video game, but how much longer will you play a computerised game? Perhaps, it’s time to get out that dusty board game where you can wind up the family and throw dice and count to six. Test your strategy skills on a game of chess or Chinese checkers, or rule the board in a game of chess. Indulge in board games that will not only sharpen your skills, but also help in killing the boredom.
- Help around the house: Now that you are home for a greater amount of time, this is probably a good time for you to start reorganising stuff. Try to find the time to settle that cupboard that you promised yourself you would do a while back. Fix a time to do house- hold chores that will keep you occupied. As parents, this is a good opportunity to get your kids to help around the house too.
- Indoor workouts: Of course now you cannot possibly hit the gym, or those usual morning/ evening runs. However, fitness has no bounds. You can still find the time to do some home workouts like Yoga or even basic push- ups and crunches. And, if you are not a workout person, try it out! Of course these are times where exercising is perhaps the last thing on the list, but you do want to avoid those back aches and sprains during an online session! So get off the laptop or your phone once in a while and take a stroll around the house, swing your arms and kick your feet- do a stretch every now and then to keep those aches away. And if you are into a serious home workout, check out and follow up on some home workout activities from YouTube- some of them are actually useful!
- Read: Reading books is slowly becoming a dying hobby. Yes more people are reading from their mobile phones, but the essence of reading from a book is slowly fizzling away. Try it out during the lockdown, order a good book and devote some time into reading it. You will discover a whole new world from that book alone, and in time you will find your lockdown- boredom slowly wash away.
