How did the journey of being an author start for you?
I used to pen poems and short stories during my school and college days. The year 2020 was the revival of my writing after years.
What was your first written piece?
I had written an article about mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day in 2020. That would be my first written piece.
What sort of poems do you usually write?
It’s free verse poems. I do not follow any patterns or Ballads etc. The themes range from love to soul. Poems are my emotions poured on paper.
Free-verse or rhyme, what is your preferred style?
It is always free-verse for me. Rhymes sometimes make me feel restricted, and the flow of words gets disrupted. Many times the outcome is not good, and I feel miserable.
Tell us something about your current work.
I am a part-time consultant. I am focusing more on writing and not investing extra time in my career. It’s not easy to quit the job, so trying to balance the chaos.
Are your poems personal, imaginary, or a mix of both?
It’s a mix of both personal and imaginary, where the inner feelings are on top of imagination.
What, according to you, is the best line you’ve ever written in a poem?
The best line has not come yet.
Who or what inspires you to write poetry?
It can be anyone, happening, or place. My house-help can inspire me to pen down a poem, or my terrace flowers can encourage me to write about them. But, if an idea flashes in my mind, then only I write.
Your favorite poet?
Robert Frost tops all favorite poets. His poems are thought-provoking and unusual in style.
What advice would you give to a budding poet?
Reading books help in writing. Jot down the thoughts on paper or record them on mobile wherever and whenever it comes to your mind. Be consistent in writing one line or two lines daily.
